BOARDING

At Heirloom Equestrian, we strive to offer the kind of quality, individualized care we want for our own horses.  Every member of the Heirloom team has been a boarder before, for better or worse; and those experiences have shaped our standard of care. We believe that happy horses make the best partners for our clients, and that begins with giving them a horse-friendly lifestyle.

TURNOUT

Horses are social animals, and free movement is critical for mental and physical health. Heirloom Equestrian prioritizes daily turnout in small, carefully selected groups. Individual turnout is also available. Our six main paddocks are currently a work in progress, but we are working hard to fully restore healthy soil and forage conditions. Hay will remain available in turnout throughout the pasture rehabilitation process. Dry lot accommodations will also be available for horses with special dietary needs. Even in the worst weather conditions, we have the ability to provide every horse with a few hours of daily turn out in our two 80x200 indoor arenas.

STALLS

When they are indoors, horses at Heirloom Equestrian Services enjoy brightly-lit, matted and well-bedded 12x12 stalls with high-velocity fans and/or heated buckets as the season requires. Stalls are cleaned daily, often twice daily with the help of our outstanding homeschool student community. Water buckets are provided in every stall for your convenience, or you are welcome to use your own.

FEEDING

We proudly offer Excel Equine Feeds, and carry their Triplify, Carbolyte, and Trifiber Compete in-house to suit average horses, easy keepers, and harder keepers/seniors. Excel is produced locally, right here in Louisville, and has a diverse range of feed options to suit any individual needs. We even have the ability to refer you to their nutrition expert to customize a feeding plan for your horse, if desired. Daily supplements and maintenance medications are administered at no additional charge.
Free access to quality forage is another cornerstone of excellent equine care. We feed high quality, mold and weed-free grass hay 2-3 times a day to stalled horses, and offer hay in all paddocks when grass is scarce. Alfalfa hay is also available for an additional monthly fee. If you prefer your horse use a hay net, we will fill your haynet at mealtimes for a nominal monthly fee.

THE LITTLE THINGS

Like we mentioned, we've been boarders before, and we know what it's like to be worried about what's happening to your big baby at the farm. We want to offer all our clients peace of mind, knowing they can go to work, school, or on vacation, and rest easy knowing their horse is getting the best care. Our barn managers are experienced horsewomen and have genuine love and appreciation for the individual personalities and quirks of their charges. They will notice any unusual behavior or movement, and notify you immediately of any concerns.
If your horse manages to injure themselves, as horses famously do, our team has the skills necessary to medicate, soak, bandage, treat, or otherwise tend to your horse as needed while they recuperate.
Is it raining? Is it too hot, too cold, too buggy? In the Ohio River Valley, you never know, and the weather can change at a moment's notice. Heirloom Equestrian staff will make sure to make use of the things you provide for your horse's comfort - fly masks or spray, turnout gear, sunscreen for pink noses.
Need a quick pic? Status update to get you through your lunch break? Don't hesitate to check in, helicopter horse moms! Technology is amazing, and we don't mind helping you get your pony fix via text message as chores allow.

Full care board starts at $525/mo.
